ABOUT LA Bande

My name is Claudia Bothe and I am the founder of La Bande Berlin. Over the last 15 years, I worked for different luxury labels in London, Paris and Berlin as the head of design.

La Bande Berlin started as a personal project. For my wedding I developed a sustainable version of an iconic design from the 70s. This convertible wrap dress can be worn in many different versions and fits all body shapes. Every female body is different, and I believe that the right design and material can bring out the beauty that every woman carries inside herself. My version of this dress is made from luxurious Acetate Jersey that is sustainable and even compostable. Following numerous purchase requests, I started an Online Shop during my maternity leave.

Being able to convert your wardrobe every time in a different way ( instead of getting a new dress for every occasion ) is a new concept for sustainable eveningwear. Inspired by the idea of fashion that allows you to wear less more often, I designed my Silk Mix & Match collection: A small number of styles that you can combine in various all-over looks. This was the start of La Bande Berlin.

I funded my business with my own capital. I think it‘s important to „feel“ every financial decision you take. At the beginning I did it all by myself to fully understand and control each part of the business. Now we are a small team plus additionial support from so many people around us.

And this is the reason why I never considered to name the label after myself. I like the association with the German word ‚Bande‘. A brand is more than just one person. I am deeply grateful for the women who support and inspire my brand every day. ‚La Bande‘ is also French for ‚the band‘ and refers to the start of the label with the Drapage Dresses.
